I grew up here in Wellington, and my family and I have returned to raise our children and enjoy this wonderful city. I absolutely love Wellington, the Kapiti Coast, Hutt Valley, and Wairarapa. In my free time, I enjoy fishing and spearfishing along the coast, mountain biking the hills, walking the riverbanks, and supporting the Hurricanes and Lions at the stadium.
I was trained through the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association training system, working at several hospitals in the North Island under the supervision of 40 orthopaedic surgeons. I earned my Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Fellowship in 2020.
I have always been passionate about hip and knee reconstruction. Robotic arm assistance has been used overseas for 15 years and has been mainstream for 7 years, offering unparalleled accuracy. I chose Australia for sub-specialist training because they have been using robotic arms for hip and knee replacements for 7 years and are leaders in robotic-assisted joint surgery.
I completed a 6-month fellowship with Gary Hooper and Rod Maxwell at Burwood and St. George’s Hospitals in Christchurch, focusing on uncemented joint replacement, unicompartmental knee replacement, and revision joint replacement. Additionally, I completed 6 months of foot and ankle sub-specialisation at Gold Coast University Hospital.
I worked with Ross Crawford at Prince Charles and St. Vincent’s Hospitals for a year, performing over 250 robotic hip and knee joint replacements. I also undertook and helped publish research in this field.
