Dr Rahul Jayakar is a New Zealand trained Plastic Surgeon specialising in head and neck surgery, hand surgery, aesthetic surgery of the face and body, reconstructive microsurgery and general plastic surgery.
Rahul graduated from the University of Auckland in 2011 and then trained in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery through Auckland and Wellington regional training units. He was awarded fellowship with the Royal Australasian college of surgeons in 2022 and then went on to further subspecialise in Head and Neck Cancer Surgery. This included one year fellowships at The Wellington Regional Plastics, Maxillofacial and Burns Unit at Hutt Hospital and The Chris O’Brien Lifehouse Cancer Centre in Sydney, Australia. Rahul has also undertaken a 6 month fellowship at the New Zealand Institute of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery in Remuera, Auckland where he gained experience in aesthetic surgery of the face, breast and body.
Returning to the Wellington region, Rahul has joined the Plastic Surgery team at Hutt hospital where he focuses on head and neck cancer surgery and reconstruction. Rahul’s private practice is based at Boulcott specialist centre with consultations available in Wellington, Porirua and Palmerston North.
