Information to prepare you for your general admission to Boulcott Hospital.

What to bring

  • Any hospital forms you have been asked to complete but have not yet returned to us.
  • All current medications in original boxes (including those you have been instructed to withhold before surgery).
  • A statement of your current medication prescription from your GP or Pharmacist with the dose and frequency of each drug and who prescribed it.
  • Medic Alert bracelet (if you have one).
  • Digital devices (we have Wi-Fi available).
  • Loose, comfortable clothing and footwear. If staying overnight, please bring nightwear and toiletries.
  • Reading and writing material.
  • Any prescription glasses, hearing, walking or other personal aids you require.
  • Medical devices (e.g. CPAP machine) if applicable.

It is best to leave valuables such as jewellery or large amounts of money at home. While we will do our best to ensure the safety of your belongings, Boulcott accepts no responsibility for patients’ personal possessions.

Boulcott is a smoke free facility, which includes cigarettes, e-cigarettes and vapes.

Admission times

  • Admission confirmation: You’ll receive confirmation of your admission time from the surgical admissions team 2 days before your surgery date.
  • Running late on day of surgery: Call 04 569 7555 as soon as possible.
  • Admission timing: Usually, 1 to 1½ hours before your scheduled operation time.
